Horse racing tips UK: how our free tips are made

Every tip on this page comes from our AI racing predictor, which rates every runner in every UK race on today’s racecards and tomorrow’s racecards once the bookmakers have priced them. It starts from the best price available, strips out the bookmakers’ margin, and adjusts for form, ratings, the trainer’s strike rate, course and distance wins, first-time headgear and how long a horse has been off. Half the final figure is the market’s view, half is the form book’s.

That makes these AI horse racing tips different in one important way: they tell you what to leave alone as well as what to back. A winner backed at too short a price loses money over time, and a loser at a generous price can still have been the right bet.

What to back, and what to leave alone

      Worth backing

      • Horses whose price beats their chance: our VALUE and BACK picks
      • Course and distance winners in form
      • Trainers hitting a high strike rate in the last fortnight
      • The best price on the day, not your usual bookmaker’s: compare today’s best odds

      Best left alone

      • Odds-on favourites with nothing in hand on the figures
      • Horses back from long breaks at short prices
      • Big-field handicaps at single-figure odds without a clear reason
      • Accumulators of favourites to “make the odds worth it”: see our accumulator guide first

Should you back the favourite? What UK racing says

Over the last 90 days of UK racing, favourites won 35.6% of 2,387 races in our results, and £1 on every one at the starting price returned -11.9%. In fields of two to five runners they won 47.9%; in fields of 13 or more, 25.1%. The favourite is often the most likely winner and still a poor bet, which is why the predictor marks some favourites AVOID.

Getting the most from your racing tips

Take the best price, and bet with a bookmaker offering Best Odds Guaranteed where you can: our list of BOG betting sites shows who pays the bigger starting price if it drifts. For bigger-priced tips, an each-way bet pays out if the horse places; the each-way betting guide explains the terms, and the guide to reading racing odds turns a price into a percentage. New customers can also back a tip with horse racing free bets. Check the results afterwards: every tip here can be checked.

Horse racing tips today: your questions answered

What are the best horse racing tips today in the UK?

Our strongest pick today is Wosta in the 6:30 Wolverhampton at 2/5 with 10bet: a 68% chance on our numbers against 65% on the price. Next best is Wedyan in the 6:45 Chelmsford at 4/5. The list at the top of this page updates through the day as prices move.

Are there free horse racing tips for tomorrow?

Yes. Tomorrow has 28 UK races on the cards and the predictor has rated 0 of them so far. Switch to the Tomorrow tab above, or see tomorrow’s racecards.

What is a value bet in horse racing?

A value bet is a horse whose price is bigger than its real chance of winning. We strip the bookmakers’ margin out of the best price to get the market’s chance, then compare it with our own. The biggest value today is Billy Boi Blue in the 1:15 Southwell: 6/1, which implies 14%, while we make it 16%.

Should you back the favourite in horse racing?

Not blindly. Over the last 90 days of UK racing, favourites won 35.6% of 2,387 races, and £1 on every one at the starting price returned -11.9%. Gemmari in the 5:15 Chelmsford is a favourite we would swerve today: the price says 33%, we make it 31%.

How do AI horse racing tips work?

Our AI racing predictor starts from the best price on each horse across UK bookmakers, removes the margin, then adjusts for recent form, rating against the field, the trainer’s strike rate, course and distance wins, first-time headgear and days since the last run. The final chance is half market, half form, and every pick comes with its reasons.

When are the Saturday horse racing tips published?

Our Saturday racing tips are written on Friday evening from the declared runners and the first prices, and the same page is refreshed every week. Wednesday tips follow the same pattern on Tuesday evening.
