Going trend · Ebor Festival in August traditionally good to firm. May Dante meeting can be anything from good to soft.

Draw bias · On the 5f and 6f sprints, no consistent bias — both sides have produced winners in big fields. The Nunthorpe shows minimal draw bias.

★ Signature events at York

  • AUGUST
    Ebor Festival
Four days of top-class summer Flat racing — Juddmonte International (G1), Yorkshire Oaks (G1), Nunthorpe Stakes (G1) and the Ebor Handicap.
  • MAY
    Dante Festival
Three-day spring meeting featuring the Dante Stakes (key Derby trial) and the Musidora Stakes (Oaks trial).

★ What punters need to know about York

  • Dante Stakes form is the strongest single pointer to the Epsom Derby — five Dante winners have gone on to win the Derby since 2000.
  • Ebor Handicap is the biggest betting heat of the meeting — back progressive 3-year-olds with stamina up to 1m 6f.
  • York traditionally has the best ground preparation in Britain — form here translates exceptionally well to other major Flat tracks.
