Going trend · September Leger meeting typically rides good or good to soft. November Handicap card often heavy.

Draw bias · In 5f and 6f straight-track sprints, no consistent bias — front runners and ground-savers both prosper.

★ Signature events at Doncaster

  • SEPTEMBER
    St Leger Festival
Four days featuring the world's oldest Classic — the St Leger Stakes over 1m 6½f — plus the Park Hill, Doncaster Cup and Champagne Stakes.
  • NOVEMBER
    November Handicap Day
Traditional end-of-Flat-season Saturday with the November Handicap and a competitive supporting card.

★ What punters need to know about Doncaster

  • St Leger trial form (Great Voltigeur, Gordon Stakes) is the strongest pointer to the Classic itself.
  • Doncaster's long, sweeping turns suit horses with a strong cruising rhythm — ignore quirky, tactical types.
  • November Handicap is wide-open every year — value lies with progressive 3-year-olds out of the handicap.
