Going trend · Eclipse Day in July traditionally good to firm. Tingle Creek in December often soft.

Draw bias · On the 5f straight Flat course, low draws are favoured. No significant bias around the full circuit.

★ Signature events at Sandown

  • DECEMBER
    Tingle Creek Christmas Festival
Two-day jumps meeting featuring the Tingle Creek Chase (G1 2m) — the premier 2m chase of the early winter.
  • JULY
    Coral-Eclipse
Group 1 over 1m 2f — the historic mid-summer clash between the Classic generation and the older horses.
  • APRIL
    bet365 Gold Cup
    Marathon 3m 5f handicap chase — Britain's richest non-Festival staying handicap.

★ What punters need to know about Sandown

  • Sandown's uphill finish requires genuine stamina — pure speed types under-perform here.
  • Tingle Creek winners often go on to the Queen Mother Champion Chase at Cheltenham — strong pointer.
  • Eclipse Stakes: the 3-year-olds with proven Group 1 form (Derby/Guineas winners) have a strong record against older horses.
